No doubt there were many coil packs repaired under warranty and they did indeed have a permanent fix. Examples such as yours are where at least a partial coverage should apply. The problem is that they don't know if you blew them under mild use or were kicking the crap outta the car and qualified as abuse. Your particular dealer went the abuse road.
