Plus, I just found them super uncomfortable for any extended periods of walking (terrible flat feet). By contrast, for a mild trade-off in pedal feel, the MacBeths are super comfortable, have a smooth heel area so no grabbing, and they're a lot more reserved styling wise.

Geez it's been three years, I really don't enjoy my MacBeths and reading this, it's because they're rather flat soled so I feel the exact opposite of you, I can wear the Tigers all day long walking around and be comfortable while the MacBeths have me crying for mercy in an hour or two, plus they don't breath at all. Converse lands somewhere in between.
But they're easy to slip on and off and look mildly presentable so they were my work shoes (desk job) for awhile, they're also super durable and wear well, especially if you keep them clean. I just can't wear them for more than an hour without giving my feet a breather. Soles seem a bit think imo but they're certainly passable for driving, I'd just rather kick them off especially if it's for a trip over ten minutes.
