At 9000 miles (mas o menos) I still notice my BRZ gettting smoother over time. One thing you can do is alter your shift technique a bit to give the synchros what they're asking for. Try this, start the car, and wait until the cold start cycle finishes. Depress the clutch and exert forward pressure on the shifter. It should move a bit then offer more resistance. Don't just push through the resistance, but maintain the pressure until the shifter slides in to first.
The box eventually loosens up a lot, but I still take what the transmission gives me. It knows what it wants. I oblige.
