If that's the case then I think the next frontier is to make it lighter while remaining relatively affordable.
Their original idea was to dump most of the money into things that we the consumers cannot readily modify after purchasing the vehicle (i.e. chassis, driving position, ergonomics, etc). The upscaling and gadgetry were probably from the marketing dept.
