The hill assist on the 2017's hold you for ~3 seconds if you are facing an uphill in 1st gear, or facing downhill in reverse gear, it doesn't let you roll back at all. On very slight inclines it won't hold you and you will roll back slightly as normal. Once you can feel the clutch grab, the hill assist does disengage itself, but if you don't give it enough gas it will hold the brake enough to/almost stall the car.
