What I did wrong: In the beginning I would hook the battery up to the Shorai tender in store mode which is fine but because of the parasitic draw found in newer vehicles, I should have added a kill switch or disconnected the ground. I started to do that after the battery was already damaged. Also, I should have taken out the battery when storing for long periods of time during the Texas heat... my garage will get very hot... continued exposure to high heat zaps the batteries integrity and performance.
So now I'll place the battery on the tender in the house. My 86 is not a daily driver so this will not be a problem for me.
