To me it is personal preference, I will down shift to the gear that will get me going if i need to overtake otherwise the torque dip is here nor there and spending 1k for used parts or 2+k for new parts to remove that dip to me isn't worth the price of admission.
I would just wait until i had the 5K to buy and tune a SC kit.
again this is my opinion and in no way saying doing basic upgrades is wrong, if that is what you want that is fine I just want more.
