UPDATE:
The pin would not budge. It appeared to be wedged somehow.
Gave up and took a dremel to the shift know. After cutting off the shift knob, the pin would still not come out.
Being left with half a pin stuck out, I slid the new lockout into place. I found a similar metal rod in the garage that I bent to fit. Once in place, I hammered it the rest of the way into the hole. VOIALA!
What you see is an entirely Macgyver built, brutally tested masterpiece.
