I bought mine at 27 and am now 30. I came from a 1994 Honda Prelude.
When my now wife, then GF, came out to test drive a FR-S (Subaru dealerships were real stingy about BRZ test drives) she power slid it smashing me against the side of the car (I was testing the rear seats, not much bolstering...). Lesson all, marry well.
The first year I had it, I took delivery in January 2014 in Detroit, MI. It was the worst winter in terms of snowfall and ice on the roads they'd had since ~1944. I had the dealership put Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires on it for delivery as it would be my daily driver. That winter, and multiple since, it has only ever been stuck in snow once during a blizzard in DE and only because we stopped and dug out a stuck Dodge Magnum on an I-95 off ramp. (I've only ever had stock tires on test drive, eventually we'll get a pair of proper summer / performance tires for it and a proper set of winters, but it has spent its life so far on a good set of all season tires. Granted, I don't track / race it.)
If you plan to have a significant other or get married I strongly recommend a BRZ Limited, dual zone climate control is marital road trip bliss.
As for professional... I work from home... but when my wife has driven it to work she's been criticized by a few co-workers for letting her husband get away with buying a "$70,000 sports car".
And, for the other people in my life... Well, my dad is trying to convince my mom that if/when they need a second car in addition to their Subaru Outback she should let him get one.
As for practicality, see here:

The rest of the time, on the rare occasion we need something larger, we rent.
And in terms of more seats... when we finally need 4+ real seats my wife has threatened me with a WRX or STI saying she'll take the BRZ as her DD.
The doubters in your life be damned.
