Race-car speed usually requires big engines with big power and thus big $$$. While race-car like handling can be had with smart/effective engineering and lightness.
As long as the 86 is faster than a decomposing log or say, a Prius, everything will be fine.

sure, but the MR2 and Supra both handle exceptionally well. also, the LFA, ISF, etc... toyota can sure make cars that handle well. no problem there.
