Actually, the choice for a Supra in the first movie
was random. Originally, they were going to use a 3000GT, but then they were persuaded to the Supra for a variety of reasons.
The people who wrote that movie had pretty much no idea what they were talking about. There were people hired on just to TRY to help keep them on track.
