Those people are wrong.
That's like saying people's noses look weird unless theres a mole at the tip of it.

Theres a few examples of BRZs with a shaved bumper on this forum, OP should look at decide for himself.

Mine, like most shaved bumpers, was done so that the two lines coming off the hood continue and taper off straight. Doesnt curve at the end as if its going around the emblem or anything. I was iffy about it at first too, but I'm glad I had it done.
