I'm consider trying the A/C Pro refill canisters, does anyone have experience with them? I'd rather skip maintenance costs at the dealer if possible.
Thanks

You can start with a can or two of refrigerant from Autozone or the like. Just make sure to get the hose with the gauge on it. Also follow the instructions to the letter. Its easy but if you skip a step or misinterpret it may not work that great. Do not get the ones that have sealant in them, oil is OK. The ones with the sealant could clog up the very small passages in the ac system and make things worse. Also, the hose only fits on one inlet, if you have to force it on that is the wrong one.
After you charge it up and you notice after a couple weeks it starts getting warm again just take it to a mechanic. Its just not worth charging it every couple weeks. They will do a leak down test and should be able to find the leak then go from there.
I had a car that i would need a can at the beginning of every summer. There was a very tiny leak somewhere but it was an old car at the time and spending a few bucks for a an a/c to last the summer was fine.
