On 99% of devices the Off button also does On. You would also assume so, considering there is no other On button (even the AC button doesn't turn it on). And where does it say On, on the Fan dial? Which, apparently is how you do turn it On.
And you are right... my purpose was to highlight the illogical, unintuitive nature of the system.
ACs give me headaches so I use them minimally. I prefer the fan, and regularly adjust it or I have the whole thing switched off and use the windows.
And, manually adjusting the fan control does NOT turn off Auto mode! It turns off Full Auto but not Auto. Still don't know how I have managed to do it a couple of times.
