Just playing Devil's advocate here but, can't it be argued that metal-on-metal rubbing of the pivot in the socket will eventually cause the arm to fail, leaving you stranded? I have that squeak but have been too lazy to do anything about except wonder if the arm is going fail sooner rather than later...
