Rob sent a new voltage display which fixed the issue. Wasn't until I dismantled the old display (removed the female section of the plug) that I noticed that the solder on one of the wires wasn't soldered properly. It looked like it was!
Allowed the voltmeter to work sometimes and not others.

Glad you mentioned this because it's a small issue that can make the whole thing go batty.
For anyone else with intermittent operation issues it's easy pop open the back of the voltmeter (one or two screws) and check that the solder on the input wires and/or connector are still holding up. If not, just re-solder. Cake.
