Hey guys Gotta quick off topic question, didn't want to make a new thread just for this.

I was at a red light, and a v6 mustang pulled up and started revving and wanted to race. Hahah

Just for fun, so I smoked it at the acceleration and didn't get a chance to shift into second gear, so I went into redline and felt the gas pedal didn't work, or respond, I quickly my put it in neutral.What caused this? Did I do any damage to my car? This has ever happened to me, and I never get close to redline, or tried accelerating this hard before, ever?
