I could also do without some of those features as well. Hell, I've been looking for months for a clean E30 325is and if the FT86 isn't what I'm hoping for then I'll probably buy a used Elise and and a junker to use as a DD.
Unfortunately though, I'm a realist and I know that the average car buyer won't shell out $25k for a car that has less features than a $17k Hyundai no matter how well it handles. 90% of drivers in the US can't drive a stick and half of them don't know whether the car they already own is front or rear wheel drive. While people like you and I may be the most passionate automobile fans out there, we don't represent a large enough group of people to make Toyota listen to us.
In the end we are all rooting for the same thing, I was merely commenting that what I've been reading isn't reassuring me that we are going to get it.
