It's about time I weighed in here...

The Beat-Sonic TVK-54 has 24-pin connectors. It will not work with the Fujitsu Ten nav HUs in 2012-up Impreza and Forester, and 2013 BRZ and FR-S.

  • 2010 Exiga
and a similar OEM Kenwood satnav, used in

Although the back looks similar, the nav in 2010-2011 Legacy/Liberty/Outback does not have the parking brake signal on its 24-pin socket.
From the above posts, it sounds like the BRZ's nav does use the parking brake signal to disable video display while driving.

However, I seem to recall a 2012 Impreza owner with the Fujitsu Ten nav (model FW602US) saying that grounding the parking brake input did not unlock everything that is disabled while driving.

An easy way to verify is to pull up your brake lever just far enough to light the BRAKE light on the dash. Then have a passenger look for things that are still locked out while you're driving.

We theorized that the FW602US was also using the speed signal (VSS) to detect motion for the lock-out. A simple way to test that is to just unplug the 28-pin harness. You'll lose your microphone and aux input, but you should still be able to test everything else.

I've seen BRZs with model numbers FA601US (here) and FM601US (here). Does the FR-S have the same models?
