I'm having a squeak issue with my BRZ. After searching the whole internet and all available forums, this sounds the closest. Here are my symptoms:

* Makes a high-pitch chipmunk-like "squeak" noise every 15-25 seconds, only when moving. Nothing while at rest. I noticed it around 3000-4000 rpm.
* Does not happen always. Perhaps 2 out of 5 times I drive.
* Does not depend on outside temperatures.
* It does not happen when I take it to a dealer for diagnosis
* This is NOT the fuel pump continuous chirp. I hear that too.

Does any one have any videos so I can compare? I tried to record my audio, but I couldn't capture the noise.
Guys, this really isn't complicated. Think about it

You have a belt-driven load device (the compressor) that cycles on and off. Under running conditions it starts under load (there is still significant head pressure). When that load is suddenly applied to the drive belt, there's brief momentary slippage. Slippage = squeak.

It's pretty much like squealing your tires...power suddenly applied to a static load.

This has been a characteristic of many auto A/C systems ever since we transitioned off of R12.

You can stop the chirp if you tighten belt enough, but to me, the increased load on the shaft bearing isn't worth the "none-problem" of the chirp.
