I considered getting an E36 M3 and hanging onto my Jeep instead of getting my FR-S but decided to just get go with a single newer car especially since I didn't use the Jeep for what it was designed for.

I love the E30 M3 but they've gotten ridiculous in terms of price. I'd much rather have a modified E30 325is for a lot less money or if I had to have an M-car an E28 M5. If I had the place to work on it I'd be more likely to go with a 75 or older BMW to avoid smog regulations.
