Physical connections are the least of your worries.
The 2017 dash cluster will likely need the 2017 ECU calibration to work.
Im not sure of all the gauge displays on the 2017, but all the sensors sre likely their in the older cars,
The G force sensing, acceleration slip angles is likely derived from the VCS computer data/sensors already in older cars.
oil temp is already their in older cars
you big issue will be software compatability between the ECU, Dash Cluster VSC computer and the security/imobiliser system.
I know 100% that the earlier ECU calibration will not run on 2017 cars and causes secutity imobiliser system to lock out and need reset procedure.
so I suspect that the 2017 ecu calibration will not run with older security system.
It would be a suck it and see process to swap in the new dash cluster and find out what happens then attempt to correct problems.
The dash/ecu/imobiliser/key fobs form a security set and their are often special proceedures required to sync in any of those components if the entire set is not replaced.
You might be lucky and just be able to swap in 2017 dash using the factory procedure but its going to need someone to shell out the dollars to test it and be prepared to loose that money if it doesn't work
