Never knew that kit couldnt support any weight at all, especially for the price of the kit.
It cuts out noise quite well. The bottoms of the flat parts have sound mat glued on and it comes with a couple more sheets of sound material to lay down. Believe me, it is a lot louder with it out. I used hard fasteners to put the bottom 3 pieces together. I have it so 2 wing nuts removes the entire bottom piece when I want in a couple seconds. It it very light weight. I would imagine something made with wood would be quite heavy.

I like it. If you didn't know, you would think the car came that way.
