The moment you drive the car on public roads, in essence you're endangering it. Yet, what good is a car you can't drive unless its a museum piece.
I do obsess a bit about the condition of my car, fortunately I do have paint protection film for the whole front so I no longer worry about the small stone chips that made my used Impreza look bad. PPF actually has made my car look like its never seen highway, I have to point out the pitted windshield to show my car spends a large amount of time there. Scratches do annoy me, but a very good detailer should be able to eliminate a lot of the light surface scratches. Or if you want to be proactive, then get something like Opticoat which will give another clear coat layer and hopefully it no longer is a problem, the only minus is they can be expensive to get a detailer to apply depending on the product. Dings and dents, thanks to PDR I actually had 3 large dents removed on my passenger door and one on the passenger drip rail too. Can't even tell it ever happened. Repair was very inexpensive too.
Frankly these days the only thing that will annoy me forever is if I had the car get body work done and its not perfect, particularly the paint. I think I was the bane of my company's contracted bodyshops because when I was inspecting the company fleet to be resold...a lot of them had paintwork that needed to be redone.
I do think its good you care about the condition of your car. Just note the things your obsessing over, can be remedied pretty easily.
