Correct! Less turbulence is generated, and any that is generated with the top down is "silent" since its just air against air, not fabric.
On a related note, I have the opportunity to drive the Fiat 124 spider at the auto show over the next week in Cleveland. I'll let you guys know how it is. We'll see if they let me put the top down.
