Great topic!
The BRZ is my first sports car. Before, I had a Mini Cooper (non S). The Mini was great for city driving and parking since I live in a European capital city, but a bit boring. The BRZ seemed like a great car, and was one of the few new RWD cars within my budget. I considered the MX-5, but needed something more practical.
I've always seen the BRZ as a first step towards something faster, but the more I drive it, the more content I feel with it. This especially after having tracked it. It will take years before I grow out of the BRZ on the track, and a few more years before I dare to drive something more expensive on track. As insurance doesn't cover trackdays, the BRZ is as expensive as I dare to go.
For now, the BRZ doubles as my daily (and only) driver. In a few years I might get something else for the weekdays and either turn the BRZ into a track car or look towards something else. In that case, I would probably get an older model Cayman or 911.
