I've had mine for 3 years and it chirped since day one. Maybe if you had to listen to it daily you would see more of a benefit of having it replaced for free with a unit that is supposedly chirp free.

Edit: They never bothered me when I had them, the amount of time I spent idling was far outweighed by the time I spent driving it.
