Despite having driven manual transmission vehicles for over 20 years, my 2016 BRZ will at times make me look like a stickshift newbie. It's a little strange, sometimes I'm on point and am clicking off flawless shifts; other times I'm lurching like a 16 year old.

I attributed this to a few factors:

* lack of clutch feel
* lazy throttle (as compared to my old throttle-cabled NB miata)
* unintuitively high clutch engagement
* myself

I installed the mtec spring this past weekend (first mod) and have driven with it enough to make some statements on it.

Install:

Getting the stock spring out took some doing and is a bit awkward, but it eventually came out. Getting the mtec spring back in was much easier.

Weight:

Clutch effort will be higher. You'll notice it most on your first test drive. After a few days, I've completely adjusted to it. It now feels totally normal to me. I don't find it to be tiring, even in stop & go traffic.

Feel:

Clutch feel is notably improved. Shifting my BRZ is now easier, and I don't look like a newb nearly so much as I used to. But, this is not a cure-all. I still fall into a poor shifting bout from time to time, usually when trying to drive sedately.

Conclusion:

This is worthwhile if you find your BRZ to be lacking in clutch feel, and don't want any slop from a springless system. I'd do it again.
