It's just plain stupid to drive in the snow on summers. As far as using them in the cold, meh. Learn to test for the limits and drive accordingly.
I got caught in a freak blizzard this past spring driving from Mississauga to Guelph (about an hour drive) and it was not enjoyable. Then, this fall, we got about an inch of snow overnight and I had stayed the night at my girlfriend's parent's house. Another butthole clenching drive. I need less extreme summer tires.
