I always get a chuckle out of the whole "Canadian Tire products are crap" statement. Most of their products are exactly the same as you would buy anyplace else so no lower level there.
Like many places they carry several levels of quality tools. If you buy that $5 socket set ya it is crap but take two steps to the right and grab a $100 Master Craft set and you have a tool that is the quality of the best in class and a lifetime warranty.
As far as car parts go they again carry at least two quality levels of just about anything. People dismiss the $12 oem made bearing, buy the $2 Chinese knock off and then bitch CTC out for their "crappy" quality. The whole trick at CTC (and most stores) is don't buy the cheap shit expecting the same performance and quality as the good stuff and if you do buy the junk don't blame the store for selling it to you.
