I got rear ended twice, and in both cases the insurance company for the other party just paid to get new bumpers. Was about $800 each time. It's much cheaper to get a used one and fix it up, especially if it's already the right color. I would've continued using these bumpers and kept the cash, but I couldn't stand seeing a relativity new car with a scuffed up bumper. Now that it's nearly 3 years of ownership, I wouldn't care so much since the rest of the car is not so perfect anymore as it's my daily driver.
