It is used in conjunction with 3M double sided tape for a lasting seal. Get a professional to install it for you like this
As for asking the dealer, they won't know anything about the TRD spoiler as it is not available in NA. The only spoiler they would have is the OEM Scion one at Toyota or OEM Subaru/86 one at Subaru dealers.
