So I'm nearing the 8000km mark in my 2017 Toyota 86 and I kept checking the Toyota Canada website for the service schedule since my car didn't come with one and it wasn't available online until recently. In the online service schedule it states that the oil and filter change should be at 16,000km, the dealership asked for it to be done at 8000km. I would prefer to perform at closer to 16,000 as I don't feel compelled to give away money for possibly unneeded oil changes.

I haven't tracked my car, and don't drive it particularly hard usually, I treat it more like a DD with some occasional fun.
When would you get an oil change done?
There is a disclaimer stating that: 2016 MODEL YEAR SPECIAL OPERATING CONDITIONS - If you drive primarily under any of these operating conditions, you should replace the engine oil and filter 8k/6M: Driving on dirt roads or dusty roads, extensive idling and/or low-speed driving for long distances, such as police, taxi or door-to-door delivery service, towing a trailer, using a camper or car top carrier.
