There is a cap on the top of the valve in different thicknesses.
you can to fully assemble and measure the clearance between cam and rocker.
Adjust accordingly.

This is one reason why when disassembling the head you should keep the valves springs retainers rocker and cap all together bagged and marked with the specific cam lobe.

If someone is selling heads in parts keep in mind the shims are like $8 each
You could end up spending $200+ trying to reassemble them. Or HOURS!

Personally if someone is selling heads disassembled the value is scrap unless you have the time and a set of GOOD micrometers to measure inside that little valve cap. But time is money
