Mine went off the other day just from having a braided USB cable laying on the seat. It wasn't charging anything, but it was plugged in. It's a 6ft cable I keep plugged into the receptacle in the glove box and pull it out when I (or a passenger) need to charge something (the glove box door will close with it out).
It really doesn't take much to set it off. I've also had it happen from a potato chip bag.
