No. Use the existing plate holes. You just want to go through the plastic fastener that the current screws go into so you can lock it with a nut on the inside.

Use whatever size is sufficient to keep the plate snug. I think I used a 10mm hex bolt on mine. My plate holder has a camera on it so it was important for me to secure it properly.
