Does it feel like anything is either binding, or loose?
Does it help to angle the lever slightly left or right of center before pulling back into fourth gear?

Update: Ultramaroon is a ****. Probably. I went out today specifically to play around with it - something I have never actually done. And I made a very important discovery. If I pull up on the reverse lockout collar, that eliminates that rattle! So that's definitely where the sound is coming from.
Unfortunately, the reason I say Ultramaroon is a **** is because when I do that, I no longer get that loud, plastic rattle sound... which was masking a grinding noise from the gearbox... Blah.
I guess it's time to make use of my warranty. I guess a new transmission wouldn't be a bad thing - though I hate any time my car is touched for any reason. Will upload a video shortly.
