Well, now that I listen to the video again ...... the cause of the sound in the shifter, is clearly a rod bearing in the engine about to permanently seize up and spin.

The bearing catches when the load on the engine is changed due to shifting the transmission and the sound is transmitted through the transmission to the shift knob. Yep, left hand shifting will set the engine up to spin a rod bearing every time ......

Ask Santa for a new engine.
