Correct. There's rarely ever free lunch, compromises are a necessity of all designs.
The SPAL fans on our radiator are designed for flow, the curved blade I spec'd out does reduce air noise though. They are SUBSTANTIALLY louder than OEM though, pull more amps, and very likely outflow OEM.
Currently the fans only kick on if I'm stopped in traffic for multiple minutes though, which is exactly what the fans are there for.
