There has always been and will always be a majority of the population that does not know how or WANT to know how to do everything. The very first records of humans (cave paintings) show people doing very specialized activates with some hunting, some performing ceremonies, some prepping food, etc.
There are currently millions that do indeed do their own car work but the majority do not. Why should they fix their own car, toilet or lawnmower? Are there not professionals for these things? Have there not been mechanics, plumbers and handymen for all of history? It isn't even a matter that people "can't" do it but many just have better things to do. To look down on people because they do things themselves that you do is just foolish. Do you not pay anybody to do anything for you at all? For the past 10 years I have paid people to do things that I used to get paid for and that is just the way it is.
