My subaru dealer diagnosed this problem on my car. The symptoms for me was the burnt oil smell when engine is hot and car is not moving.
They said the leak is very tiny, but little drops just falls onto the echaust manifold, that's why it smells so badly.
Mechanics said they will have to drop the engine to fix the leak (approx 10 hours work).
Fortunately, I purchased a warranty insurance when buying my car second-hand, and yes, they will pay the bill!
