Be wary boosting beyond the normal volume control max... It can clip the output signal, and that sounds horrid even to deaf people that can't hear the horrible contribution of mp3 compression.

I actually run ~80% volume on the phone and crank the head unit to 7 or 8, though it goes a little higher on the highway what with the exhaust noise. As long as there is enough power,nothing wrong with this at all.
