Subaru has always made a big deal about a 4 to 6 week delivery on an ordered (regular production) car so this is very abnormal for them.

According to a report at 2012, all the BRZ are built at Gunma Main plant (群馬製作所本工場) , the 1st factory of Subaru, which can produces 110,000 cars a year. On the line, they combined all 86( including frs), BRZ, Impreza wagon orders and part of XV( aka Crosstrek) orders. Maybe the other car's demand is high since winter is coming and everyone buying a 4x4. Also maybe because the performance package is not only sold here, but also in other countries and Toyota also has the same package at least in Japan. Maybe there is a small queue formed on the production line.
