Here is some details I can share:

I ordered my 2017 BRZ Limited (Automatic no PP) on October 8
I was told at that time that my car would be delivered sometime in December
I called SOA last Monday (November 21) and they had no VIN assigned nor did they have an official delivery date, but they said that it was still scheduled to be delivered sometime in December
I called SOA yesterday (November 30) and was given the VIN along with the official delivery date of December 12

Assuming that their system updates statuses (VIN assignments) on a frequent schedule, and assuming that the delivery date is accurate, it could be said that in my case, the longest amount of time possible from VIN assignment to delivery would be 20 days. I understand that that contradicts what @Tcoat has stated with regards to minimum times between VIN creation and delivery, but if the aforementioned assumptions are correct, that's how the math works out.

It is also possible that it could be a shorter window than 20 days, but that seems like a stretch. All I know is what I have stated above. Take it for what you will.
