I live in Sweden and both "GT86" and "BRZ" are vacant here. A personalized one costs about $650 over here and is valid for ten years.
The problem is that you have to pay $650 as a one-time fee to get your plate, it is not possible to for example cancel your plate after five years and get $325 back. If I'd get one of these, I would basically be forced to own an 86 for at least ten years.
I'd definitely consider getting the "GT86" plate if I'd be able to "rent" the plate in stead of a one-time buy.
