Hard to find anything real, best place will be SAE articles, but it's definitely a thing, so much money and effort is involved though, not many people are publishing textbooks about chassis design.

BMW Z8 had an aluminum spaceframe chassis, it was too rigid and cracked, the solution was to drill relief holes in the frame to allow for more flex relieving strain where the chassis was failing.
