Leasing is good if you are not sure you want the car long term, but want to try the car out or want a new car every 3 years and have the dough. Also it was a way to stretch out payments - 3 year lease then buy with a 5 year loan. Sure you are paying the most but it can make the monthly affordable for some people. Now they give 7 year loans, so that's a better way.
Others say lease a high performance car and drive the snot out of it under warranty. Then before lease is over get it checked out including oil analysis. If it's good might be worth buying it. If engine wear looks bad dump it.
It's always good to have options. Plus I have picked up virtually new cars off of lease for deep discounts.
