I don't think I'd want a tire with large tread blocks on a lightweight car like this. I like more biting edges with a softer compound on cold or wet pavement which is what it sounds like you have more often than not. A lot of the new generation winter specific tires are great performers in conditions other than snow, the Altimax Arctics aren't designed to be that tire though. Take a look at something like Conti Extreme Winter Contact or one of the other sport oriented tires.
