Yeah I honestly don't get it. I do mostly highway driving and have generally gotten 29-31 mpg. My 2004 BMW 330ci gets the same mileage! I guess N/A four cylinder engines can lose their efficiency very quick when they're tuned for power.
On a similar note, I had a 5 speed, 95 camry with the 2.2L 4cyl giving me 30 mpg, mostly highway. I currently have a 97 Avalon, 3.0 V6 with a 4 speed auto, giving me 27-29 mpg on mostly highway driving. It is just so weird to me that I've gotten similar gas mileage out of 6 cylinder engines as "big" 4 cyl engines! If anyone has any explanations, I would like to hear
