I once worked on a movie starring an elephant running around in a swamp in Florida after escaping from the circus. Because what better place for a circus than a swamp. We had a bunch of 18 and 20 kilowatt lights set up to light up the fish camp where the circus was staged. When the sun went down, a cloud of mole crickets rose up from the swamp and swarmed our lights. Those lights get pretty hot, so the crickets would fly into them, catch fire and spiral smoking to the ground to land in a steaming pile underneath each light.
They smelled delicious. I wish I were kidding. The crew was talking about how good they smelled, but nobody was brave enough back then to try one.

Having spent time in Southeast Asia (Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, and Thailand), I can assure you many people eat crickets and consider them a treat. They taste pretty good as bugs go...
